OMIGAWD! What am I going to wear?

For the fashion-conscious, please take note: you may wear anything you want to this (and all) Shelf events. Dress up! Dress down! Undress! Feel free.

We are hoping for a beautiful, balmy, autumn day on the coast. However, like so much in life, California weather is unreliable and sometimes sadistically inappropriate. Bring layers. Bring sunhats and knit caps. Bring a willingness to dance in misty fog. Bring your spirit for adventure. Bring high-proof spirits so that you will be impervious to extreme weather conditions.

And cross your fingers for sun and warmth.

Official Directions

This just in from the rental company:

From 101 North go to Petaluma. Take the East Washington Street Exit. Turn left after crossing over the freeway. Continue on East Washington Street, which will become Washington, Bodega, Valley Ford Road, and eventually Highway 1. Continue through Bodega Bay and north for several miles. When you see a brown sign for Goat Rock State Beach, you are almost there. Just past Goat Rock Road, in amongst large cypress trees, we are the first driveway on the left. There is a chain link gate and a street sign that reads Circle Drive. The mailbox says 9555. If you pass over a bridge into the town of Jenner, you have gone too far.

Alternate route (marked with a big X in the packet of information we received, but this is how we got there . . . )
From 101 North go through Santa Rosa. Take the River Road exit. Turn left, continue on River Road--it will merge with 116--continue until you reach Highway 1 (one mile before Jenner). Turn left on Highway 1, crossing the Bridgehaven Bridge. You will see a brown sign for Goat Rock State Beach 1/4 mile. We are the first driveway on your right, the driveway is amongst large cypress trees. There is a chain link gate and a street sign that reads Circle Drive. The mailbox says 9555. If you get to Goat Rock Road you've gone too far.

Total driving time is 1.5 to 2 hours from San Francisco or the East Bay.

Where To Lay Your Weary Head

Some of you have asked about places to stay nearby and here are some thoughts:

Find a rental in Jenner or Duncan's Mills to be as close as possible.

Some rental sites are here (the party is at the Rivers Bend house, and we're also renting the Lookout Point house but SSHHHHHHHH! They don't know we're having a party!) or here, or a good one is also vrbo (check out any of the Russian River areas, Duncan's Mills, or Jenner). Just some ideas to start with.

Bodega Bay and Dillon Beach are not too far away and have the best beaches for playing and lounging--the beaches near Jenner can be a bit treacherous and not good for frolicking at the water's edge.

If you are looking for someone(s) to go in on a rental with you, let us know or leave a comment here (and/or check the comments here) to coordinate.

ROCK ON.

You found us. Stay tuned.

Hey Everyone!

Glad to see you got your invitation and are checking in. As the party weekend approaches we'll post information about location and other party details. This blog should be open to comments, so please comment away if you want to find someone to carpool with or if you want to find someone to share a rental with or if you want to share memories of your experience at our wedding 12 years ago or if you want to tell the world about that trippy dream you had last night. We're all here for you.

Love,
the Shelves
